Termites have a clear way of differentiating soldiers and workers. Soldier termites have a red shell around the head. The workers have the pale heads.

The termite’s home is very intricate. In Africa the hot sun makes many animals go underground. With so many animals breathing underground it gets hot with less oxygen so the termites build tall mounds. The tall mounds have a hole in the bottom to let up hot air. The towers have pores to let in the breeze which is cool. Then the wind blowing around the tower pulls the hot air out the other side.

This is a termite queen. Some queens can lay 164,250,000 eggs in their lifetime. Queens keep the same mate for their whole life which is about 15 years.
