
Swans are classified in the Anseriformes order and the Anatidae family of birds. There are three species of swans in North America the Trumpeter Swan, the Tundra Swan, and the Mute Swan. Kid swans are called cygnets.

The Trumpeter swan weighs 30 pounds and is 5.5 feet long. Their wingspan can be over 8 feet long.

There are two types of tundra swans, the Bewick’s swan and Whistling swan. They are both small swans at about 5 feet, 21 pounds, and a 7 foot wingspan.

Mute swans are slightly smaller than trumpeter swans. They have a 8 foot wingspan.
