If you do not want any spoilers for the book “The Cat of Bubastes” you should not read this post. In the beginning of the book an Egyptian Pharaoh conquered a people called, in the book, the Rebu. the Pharaoh in the book is probably supposed to be it’s interpretation of Thutmose the 3rd, who was also known as Thutmose the Great because he managed to conquer lots of territory. The Rebu are probably a people that live on the western side of the Caspian sea, since their description matches the hieroglyphs in that area. After the Rebu are conquered the prince and his bodyguard are kept as slaves, along with other Rebu. The prince and guard are chosen as servants for the high priest of Osiris, lord of the dead. The prince, named Amuba, is the personal servant of Chebron, the high priests son. His guard, Jethro, is now the guard of the high priests daughter. The high priest does not believe in the Egyptian religion, and instead believes in Aten and Akhenaten religion. This, combined with the fact he is the high priest, means he has enemies, the most obvious being Ptylus, a lower priest. His son Chebron and servant Amuba overhear people talking about killing someone, and when they tell Chebrons father they do not realise the killer might be Ptylus, and the victim Chebrons father. That’s as far as I’ve gotten, but I think Chebrons father will be killed, and the family of Chebron will flee to the Rebu and take it back from the Egyptians.
