How the Collapse of the Roman Empire made the creation of a wide variety of glass styles compared to the glass that was produced in the Empire

Ancient Rome made the type of glass we use today the thin, clear glass but when Rome fell the towns and villages had to start living without the help of the Roman Empire. One continuous thing Rome distributed was glass and when Rome fell villages had to make their own glass. They often recycled glass from older buildings but they still had to make their own glass. Since they did not have the same ingredients Rome had the glass they made was different. It was a dark green or brown color and much thicker. This type of glass is called forest glass. Once the villages realized they could make colored glass they started making stain glass windows on churches and such. This shows how much Rome had really paused creativity by doing everything for every one.

Science 4 Lesson 41

Falcons are in the falconidae family which is in the falconiforms order. There are about 60 different species in the falconiforms order.

Peregrine falcons are the fastest animals in the world! Not the cheetah. The peregrine falcon can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour! There is a sport called falconry where falcons are trained to hunt ducks, mice, and other birds.

My Favorite Invention So Far

My favorite invention that I’ve learned about is the sword. One reason the sword is my favorite invention is I learned how to make it, and all of the pieces and their names. Another reason is that I thought and still think swords or cool. Swords have been around for a long time and the first swords were made of stone and the first metal sword was made of arsenic copper. They were used since pre-history to the 19th century, now that is a long time! Swords had a rounded tip and that was good enough for the old chain mail armor but as the chain mail turned to plate armor the sword had to have a pointed tip to pierce plate armor. That is why the sword is my favorite invention so far.

English 4 Lesson 40

If I could alter one thing in the world I wouldn’t have to write all these boring essays. I’d get to relax for longer and build with my Lego’s. Composing essays takes forever. This essay in particular has already taken 40 minutes to get this far, and no I am not joking. I could be using my time for much better things, even scrubbing the dishes is more fun. I could be having fun with my family or dog. That is why I would make it so I don’t have to write all these essays.

Science 4 Lesson 38

Crows are in the Passerines order, the Corvidae family, and the Corvus genus. Crows are believed to be the smartest birds in the world. The captive crow can live for about 30 years and weigh 1 to 1 1/2 pounds.

Ravens are in the Passerines order, the Corvidae family, and the Corvus genus. They can live to be about 21 years and weigh to 3 or 4 pounds, the heaviest Passerine ever. They are omnivores which means they eat insects, berries, seeds, and road kill. As you can see in the picture above the raven is much bigger than the crow.

Science 4 Lesson 37

Sparrows are a small family of birds in the Passerines order, Passerines are also called “perching birds”. Their bodies are pretty much the same brownish color.

Me and my dad put up a bird feeder and a ton of dark-eyed junco’s, white crowned sparrows, and house sparrows came to eat from it. Most sparrows eat small insects and lots of seeds

Science 4 Lesson 36

Robins are in the thrush family of birds which is in the Passerines order of birds which is the largest order of birds in the world. Passerines are also called “perching birds”

Most robins lay eggs in April or May and incubate them for 12-14 days. Baby robins get their feathers in about 10 days. The lifespan of a robin is about 2 years.

The robin is the second (2nd) in abundance only to the red-winged blackbird in the U.S., you can find them in all 50 states. The robins diet includes insects, worms, and fruit. They are diurnal, which means they hunt during the day and sleep at night.

The Effect Numerous Small Inventions Have On a Culture Over Time

The effect numerous small inventions have on a culture over time is an increase of capital. Small inventions like the wheelbarrow make it easier to do simple tasks like hauling loads or farming. The wheelbarrow makes it possible to carry loads like pine cones or bricks without hurting your back or dropping it on yourself. The hurt person wouldn’t be able to do anything and someone would have to care for them but with the wheelbarrow that wont happen so you now have another person to do other things. The heavy plow helps farming in the far north areas where the ground freezes. In the south it is very warm and the ground is soft. The scratch plow is basically a hoe dragged by animals. That didn’t work so well in the north. The heavy plow has a big knife in the front that cuts open the earth, then the moldboard scoops up the earth. Both of these things helped increase capital over time.

Why the Compass Did Not Effect China the Same Way it Did Europe Immediately

The compass did not effect China the same way it did Europe immediately because they believed in chi (ch-ee). Chi is supposed to be sort of a flowing life force in all things, kinda like the force in star wars. When the Chinese invented the compass they thought of it as a way to see chi and use it. When Europe got the compass they immediately used it as a way to see north, south, etc. Europe also mainly used it for ships on cloudy nights and days. Before the compass sailing season ended in October and started in April because of the cloudiness , but with the compass it mostly ended in December and started in February or January. It took awhile – 1 thousand years – but using the compass as a navigation device did finally get to china.
